Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do you do each day in TAP?
A: On Monday, you have a practice reading CRT. On Tuesday and Thursday you have silent reading. On Wednesday, you have a practice math CRT, while Friday is FREE FRIDAY!!!!!!!!

Q: What is gym procedure like?
A: You get 7 minutes to change your clothes(It doesn't seem that short). You have to bring your own clothes, but you can buy clothes from the school at the beginning of the year.

Q: How can I possibly handle all the work?
A: Manage your time. You won't get as much free time, but it'll be worth doing it. Also, complete your projects well before the due date.

Q: Is the food good?
A: At least it doesn't run off your plate like in elementary school! The food is pretty good, and the fries are pretty good but NOT McDonald's.

Q: Will gym replace recess?
A: It will a little bit. Most of the time you do specified activities, but sometimes you get choices, like basketball and ping pong. Watch out for the one-mile Fun Run.

Q: How will I find my way around school?
A: You will learn your way around after orientation and a few days of school. All the teachers will help you find your way.

Q: How much time is there between classes?
A: You get four minutes between classes. This doesn't sound like a lot of time, but you'll get used to it.

Q: What if my locker gets jammed or I forget my combo?
A: You tell your teacher if it gets jammed. You can ask your teacher if you forget your combo, but almost no one forgets it.

Q: Will I get beaten up and stuffed in my locker?
A: First off, the lockers are too small to fit ANYONE in them! It is also a myth about sixth graders getting beaten up.

We hope with this advice your transition will be smoother. The information posted here is given by three soon to be eigth graders. We are not teachers telling you this but we are your actual classmates. We hope we have helped ease your anxiety as much as possible.
